If you have come from WordPress you are looking for a contact form plugin. Shopify calls them apps, and before you install one it is worth knowing that your theme almost certainly has a contact form built in already. Here is when the built-in one is enough, and which app to add when it is not.
You may not need an app at all
Shopify themes ship with a contact page template. Create a page, set its template to the contact template, and you have a working form that emails your store address — no app, no monthly fee, no extra script on the page. For a store that needs name, email and message, that is the whole job done.
You need an app when you need something the built-in form cannot do: file uploads, conditional fields that change based on an answer, multi-step forms, sending submissions to your email marketing tool, spam protection beyond the basics, or a record of submissions you can look back through.

How to choose between them
- Start from the free plan and find its ceiling. Every app here has one. What matters is which limit you hit first — number of forms, submissions per month, or the integration you actually needed.
- Check for the Built for Shopify badge. It is Shopify’s own mark for apps meeting its performance and integration standards, and in this category it separates the field usefully.
- Decide whether submissions must leave Shopify. If the answers need to reach Klaviyo, Mailchimp or a spreadsheet, check that integration is on the tier you intend to pay for, not two tiers up.
- Assume it adds a script to your pages. Add one form app, not three widgets from three vendors.

Is there a free Shopify contact form plugin?
Your theme’s built-in contact template is free and needs no app. Beyond that, every app on this page has a free plan — the question is which limit you reach first.
Why can I not just install a WordPress plugin?
Shopify is not WordPress. Apps are hosted by their developer and billed through your Shopify account rather than installed as code on your store, which means you cannot read the source of what you install, and uninstalling usually takes your data with it.
Where do submissions go?
By default, to your store’s contact email. Most apps also keep submissions in their own dashboard and can forward them onward — check whether that forwarding is on the plan you are paying for.
